Caring for Research Animals: A Veterinarian’s Perspective
Dr. Sara Hashway is a veterinarian specializing in the field of Laboratory Animal Medicine. Â Dr. Hashway directs the Office of Animal Resources at University of Colorado Boulder. Together, she and her team provide daily housing and care for the research animals on campus. Caring for research animals involves unique considerations, special equipment, and specific training to ensure animal welfare and quality science. In this session, Dr. Hashway will discuss various aspects of research animal care, considerations for use of animals in research, and details from her own experience caring for research animals.

Pet First Aid and CPCR Program
Sunday, May 17th 10 am to 4 pm LHS Community Room
Become a Pet Safety Crusader!This hands-on Pet First Aid class teaches teens how to respond in an emergency if a dog or cat is hurt or sick. Students will learn how to check vital signs, handle common injuries, stay safe around stressed animals, and what to do until a veterinarian can take over—including the basics of pet CPR. This special training is free for teens thanks to a grant (normally $75)
