Adoption Update: Sherlock

“Sherlock is now Koda as he wouldn’t even lift his head at his previous name so we got online and found “100 dogs names” until he responded to something. And when we got to Koda, he seemed super alert to that name so that’s what we’ve been calling him. But Koda can do no wrong in this house !! We love him so much already!!

We were actually a little bit nervous because when he first came into our home he was very scared, visibly shaking and distraught. I have been focusing a lot on giving him as much love and reassurance as possible. The first day he was like Velcro. Where I went he went. The first night was a little hard since he insisted on sleeping in our bed and with any movement he started trying to wake us up. But slowly he’s taken up the space at the end of the bed like his own and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

I think he is slowly gaining confidence that this is his forever home. We are on day 3 and he is a little more independent. He will go to the living room by himself and he isn’t always by my side. He is taking his meds like a champ, we are so proud of him. He is very sweet and gentle with our 18-month-old. He lets him play with him and if Lucca starts bothering him he just walks away. But those two are already thick as thieves. I am really blessed to have found Koda boy!! Each day he’s giving more kisses and wagging his tail. Each day he’s become less shy, and I’m looking forward to seeing him step into his own as he builds his confidence. I hope he loves the home we are trying to provide him. I know this journey might get tough at times but we will do our best for him!
