Early Childhood Animal Safety: Age 4 through 1st grade
For daycare, pre-K, and community groups with young children, we offer the T.A.I.L.S. Program: Teaching Animal Information, Love, and Safety. This 30-minute program has been designed for young children, ages 4 through 1st grade. T.A.I.L.S. presentations must be scheduled 2 weeks in advance and may be held at the Longmont Humane Society or at your location. We do not bring any live animals. In advance of your presentation, we suggest that your group hold a wish list food and supply drive to learn about the gift of giving to animals in need.
Scheduling a T.A.I.L.S. presentation: Please complete and email the TAILS Presentation Form at least 2 weeks in advance of your preferred presentation date. If you have questions or would like additional information, please contact Tegan Waters at 303.772.1232 x289 or via email at firstname.lastname@example.org
Youth Service/Scout Projects
We receive many requests from youth groups to complete service projects at the shelter. Due to our limited resources, and to respect the needs of our staff and animals, we are unable to offer on-site service projects for youth. We encourage your group to facilitate your own fundraising and other service projects that will help our animals! Please see this document for ideas, though you are also welcome to create your own: Youth Off-Site Service Project Ideas. We will happily offer your group a facility tour as a component of your fundraising or donation project. For more information, see Tours and Donations.
