No matter how cushy their lives, dogs live on our terms. They compromise their freedom and instinctual pleasure, as well as their innate strategies for coping with stress and anxiety, in exchange for the love, comfort, and care they get from us. But it is possible to let dogs be dogs without wreaking havoc on our lives, as biologist Marc Bekoff and bioethicist Jessica Pierce show in this fascinating book. Clear the Shelters
Saturday, August 17, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
For the second year in a row, Longmont Humane Society will join the annual, community-driven pet adoption campaign, Clear the Shelters™ . The event, a partnership between NBC and Telemundo, has resulted in more than 250,000 pet adoptions since it launched in 2015. During the one-day event, Longmont Humane Society will join hundreds of other shelters nationwide and waive all adoption fees with the goal of finding new, loving, forever homes for as many animals as possible!
Nationwide, shelters and rescues will participate in the fifth annual Clear the Shelters™ pet adoption campaign in the hope of seeing more than 100,000 animals find forever homes in one day. With the help of our amazing community, Longmont Humane Society hopes to find loving, forever homes for over 130 animals during our second annual Clear the Shelters event! For more information about Clear the Shelters™ and to access a list of participating shelters/rescues, visit CleartheShelters.com.
