Staff & Volunteer Testimonials:

"Very sweet to his friends, very polite, and he takes treats gently :)"

"Nico's smush face is adorable! He is overlooked but such a sweetheart when he warms up!"

"Nico is a big, squishy faced boy! You just need to visit him to see how handsome he is. He may be a big boy with an equally big bark, but he is also super sweet! His basic obedience is solid, and he walks nicely on leash."

"Nico is such a goofy boy. His favorite treats are cheese balls, and he always takes them so gently! He is full of character and he has the most squishable face."

"Big handsome boy who thrives outside of the shelter environment!"

"He's a very sweet boy and when he warms up to you it's just love!"

"Nico is the kind of dog whose trust you have to earn. But he's smart and loyal, and he'll be a great companion for the right family."

"Walks nicely and is so adorable!"

"Nico is one of the smartest dogs I have ever met. He is extremely food motivated and loves to work, making him super easy to train! He is such a sweet dog and wants nothing but food and love!"

"Mr. Nico, the squishy faced boy that everyone loves! Nico is pretty easy going, laidback, and is treat motivated and loyal. He appreciates his cookies and he looks forward to seeing you once he warms up to you. He's a happy go lucky boy who just wants to please his best friend. If you are looking for a buddy to go on walks and learn new things, Nico is your boy! We are so proud of you buddy!"

"Sweet and very energetic!"

"I've gotten to spend a decent amount of time with him, he is unimaginable, just absolutely the sweetest guy ever."

"Nico is the definition of "don't judge a book by its cover". He may look big and tough (and sound it too!) but he is the goofiest boy you'll meet. He loves to play with his toys and is a professional tugger. He's a gentleman in home-like settings and will always give you "scary dog privileges", regardless of how soft his personality is. Nico is hard-headed and knows exactly what he wants in his world, but he will quickly suck you in with his big squishy face and love for pets and snuggles."

Pet of the Week Bio:

Nico is a 4-year-old pup searching for a fresh start and a family who will appreciate him for the unique guy he is. He's a treat enthusiast, seriously, if there's food involved, he's all ears! Treats are the way to his heart, and they help him build trust with new people.

At first, Nico can be a bit wary of strangers and takes his time deciding who gets into his circle. But once you earn his trust, you'll see a different side of him...a cuddly, affectionate companion (when he's in the right mood, of course). He enjoys his independence but also appreciates quiet moments with his people.

Nico is looking for a patient and understanding home that will give him the space and time he needs to feel safe. If you're ready to earn his trust (and have plenty of treats on hand), Nico just might become your loyal companion for life.

Adoption Fees and Information ›

We make every effort to keep these pages up to date. However, there is an unavoidable delay after adoption of an animal before the page can be updated. Any animal you see here may no longer be available for adoption. Feel free to come in and visit!

Due to scientific studies that indicate the unreliability of visual breed identification, unless an animal is brought to us with DNA results or AKC paperwork, we can only presume that animal is a mix of various breeds. Due to this fact, we will list those animals as “mix”.

Our organization offers 24PetWatch microchips, which include free registration into the 24PetWatch pet recovery service. For more information visit www.24petwatch.com or call 1-866-597-2424.
