Longmont Humane Society offers the Barn Cat Placement Program and an Indoor/Outdoor Cat Adoption Program to help find homes for cats who may not be able to adjust to life indoors only.
Barn Cat Placement Program
We are looking for cat lovers who have a barn or other secure outdoor structure that are interested in adopting cats that are not suitable for indoor pet placement. Cat temperaments range from feral to friendly.
Indoor/Outdoor Cat Adoption Program
This program is aimed at finding homes for cats who are accustomed to an indoor/outdoor lifestyle and struggle to be in an indoor only environment. Cats who fit this description are usually socialized and are friendly in temperament, but may not be accustomed to using a litterbox.
For both programs we provide:
- spay/neuter
- first set of distemper shots
- worming
- general exam
You provide:
- nutritious food
- water
- rabies vaccination
- future veterinary care when needed
- a permanent protected place to live

These programs are designed to find homes for cats that have traditionally been deemed un-adoptable or "hard-to-adopt" through our "normal" adoption procedures.
If you have a safe, warm barn and would like to fill it with a cat or two, or have wanted an indoor/outdoor cat, please call or come by the shelter.
Due to the nature of the Barn Cat Placement Program, we may not have a suitable cat available immediately, but will try to fill your request as soon as possible. Please pick up an application/program specifics form for this program at the shelter or you may download the information Barn/Feral Cat Adoption Form
These cats are available at a greatly reduced adoption fee - please contact the Adoption Welfare Counselors for more information at (303) 772-1232.
